Imogene Levinson (November 6, 1934 - November 23, 2008)
Known to everyone as "Nana", Gene Levinson was a faithful steward in the Lord's Church. Her and her family moved from Phoenix Arizona, to Manitowoc Wi around 1972. She was a founing member of the Manitowoc church of Christ.
Around 1996 she joined the Sheboygan Community church of Christ, where she was active with our feedings and clothing ministry. She was a member of the finance committee for several years, and acted as a "goodwill ambassador" making certain to contact those who were sick, and visitors as well.
She always tried to stay busy with whatever she could to maintain communications with fellow members by sending cards, calling, and greeeting visitors before and after services. She also created our first directory of members.
Her Greatest service was in the area of hospitality, and her home was always open at anytime for a home cooked meal or a place to hold bible studies.
During the years when we held our annual "Family Encampment" she took on the role as head cook, planning menus, shopping for groceries, and cooking as well as cleaning up.
in the beginning our encampments lasted 3 days straight so Gene would often sacrifice her own "spiritual feeding" to make sure that others were fed physically. And she always made sure that no one left hungry. her chicken soup was always a hit with the visiting ministers, so she always sent them home with a jar full or two.
Her greatest contribution to the church and to her family was her love for Christ.
We'll miss you Nana, till we meet again...........
